Liza Soberano to sing ‘Darna’ theme song?

Excited and eager are two of the best words to describe Liza Soberano after she was chosen to play Darna—perhaps one of the most coveted roles for any young actress.

You can easily sense the excitement in her voice, every time she is asked about portraying the ultimate Filipino heroine despite all the negative criticisms questioning her suitability for the iconic role.

“Well of course I’m happy. Overwhelmed. At first when they announced na ako yung magda-Darna, I was very overwhelmed. Of course there are some good opinions and there are also some who don’t agree. But I have to respect everyone’s opinions because I can’t control everyone’s minds,” Soberano told reporters during her recent launch as the first ever celebrity endorser of Megapro Plus and Megasound Karaoke.

Millennial Darna Liza Soberano opens up about her passion for music

“If they don’t think that I’m the right one to be Darna, then so be it. I respect that. But I still want to prove to everybody who does think that I am the rightful one to be Darna that I can do it, and I am trying my best.”

Then there’s her eagerness to prove that Director Erik Matti made the right choice, and that she would do well in the role previously portrayed by the likes of Vilma Santos, Sharon Cuneta, Nanette Medved and Angel Locsin among others.

She has already started her physical training allotting a portion of her weekends to running, as well as taking dance lessons for grace and timing to meet the physical demands of her role, as this will be a drastic change for her considering her previous film projects were generally romantic comedies.

Liza says she would prefer to do all her stunts, unless of course they become too dangerous for her and would consider only having a stunt double if and when it becomes life-threatening for an action newbie like her.

Besides the stunts, Liza says she also ready to go daring and wear the sexy superhero costume—even a two-piece, just like her predecessors.

“Anything naman, actually, as long as I’m prepared for it. Basta prepared po ako,” she said.

She is even willing to sing the theme song for the movie—“Pero feeling ko hindi po nila ako kukunin,” Liza said. “Pero kung kukunin naman po nila, bakit naman hindi ’di ba? It will be an honor.”

Unknown to many, Liza loves to sing, knows how to play the guitar, and is also trying to write songs.

Who knows, now that she is endorsing a karaoke system, Liza might be getting a lot of singing practice as well.

MP MegaPro Plus Marketing Corporation proprietor and business partner Andy Co believes Liza Soberano is the perfect choice as endorser.

“We chose Liza not only because we believe that she best represents our brand but also because she embodies the millennial Filipino—ambitious, talented, very hardworking and most importantly—loves to sing in her free time.”

“Liza may not be a professional singer but if you’ve watched her YouTube videos singing, you’ll see her passion and that is what MegaPro Plus karaoke is, not just for professional singers but more for those who really love to sing.”

Soberano says she is thankful for the opportunity to endorse the brand as “this means that anyone can really sing talaga. I can’t say na I’m the best singer but when I sing with my friends or relatives, or even during shows, I know that I’m having fun. For me, that’s the important thing kasi eh,”

As a music enthusiast, Liza listens to pop, rap and R&B of artists like Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande who are on top of her list of favorite international artists. Asked who she wants to work with locally, she mentioned KZ Tandingan and Yeng Constantino.

Founded by Kim Sungbok and business partners Jacinto Co and son Andy Co, MP Megapro Plus Marketing Corporation is one of first local companies to manufacture its own line of karaoke systems.

“It is common knowledge that a party is not a Filipino party without karaoke,’’ said Andy Co.

“Our vision is to spread entertainment throughout the Philippines and truly showcase the Filipinos’ natural festive attitude through singing,” Co added.

MP Megapro Plus Marketing Corporation first began to develop and manufacture its own karaoke system in 2006, using Korean engineering technology. The first model they introduced in the market was the MP-100NS DVD system.

Over the years, MP Megapro Plus Marketing Corporation has continued to develop more products to meet the demands of the diverse market, both for home and commercial use.

“Quality, durability and affordability are our top priorities. We want to make sure that all our products remain reasonably priced for the Filipino budget while improving our after sales service to support our expansion in delivering our products available nationwide,” Mr. Kim Sungbok pointed out.

“We are proud to say that we have the most number of service centers available nationwide as compared to other karaoke manufacturer or brand,” he added.

MegaProPlusKaraoke is available nationwide.
