The Internet wants to know why Maine Medoza deactivated her Twitter account, her social media outlet that catapulted her as one of fastest-growing celebrity profiles on the microblogging site in 2015.
Last weekend, Maine shut her Twitter account down, which has more than 4.5 million followers, after posting a series of cryptic messages. Reason was unclear but fans speculated that the 22-year-old TV star was avoiding intrigues that link her to comedian Sef Cadayona.
“I do not get how people can throw so much hate on others. I mean…inano ba nila kayo? (What were they doing to you)? I know how much you love us and how hard you try to protect us but enough with the foul words, guys…Hindi na tama (It’s not right),” her tweets said.
Her series of posts, which hinted her decision to go social media fasting, continued, “When peace and love are no longer being served; and whenever you find yourself taking in so much negativity, you have to take a break and reflect. Sometimes we need to disconnect to reconnect. Taking a break is necessary to save yourself and others from drowning. I hope we all stop pulling each other down.”
It’s not the first time that Maine reacted to people who bash the young comedian. It can be recalled that back in January, the other half of the AlDub love team posted a short tweet after rumors emerged about Maine being linked to Sef and to Vic Sotto’s son, Vico.
The issue with Vico, who said that he was serious in pursuing the “Kalyeserye” star, died down eventually. But rumors about Sef keeps on resurfacing especially when netizens posted a few photos that allegedly prove his romantic involvement with Maine.
Sources say that Maine felt irked by fans and netizens who put Sef in bad light, and that she’s already tired of explaining herself since she doesn’t owe anyone any explanation to begin with.
Meanwhile, the Destined To Be Yours star left for Maldives on June 5 to celebrate the birthday of her sister. Maine heats up the island paradise in her two-piece bikinis and summer OOTDs, oblivious of the issue that gets AlDub Nation feel extremely uncomfortable.
