V-Day cocaine haul valued at P500 million–PNP

The Philippine National Police seized P500 million worth of cocaine in two drop-off points by drug syndicates off the coast of Caraga region on Valentine’s Day.

Caraga police director Chief Supt. Gilberto Cruz said the cocaine were concealed in plastic-wrapped boxes ton Valentine's Day.

Cruz said a fisherman spotted an object floating off the shoreline of Cagdiano in Dinagat Island on Tuesday.

Upon inspection, the box yielded 40 bricks of cocaine.

Two days later, another box containing cocaine was fished off the shoreline of Brgy. Pacifico in Siargao.

The box yielded at least 48 bricks, all wrapped in plastic to prevent it from melting.

Earlier this month, police operatives in Camarines Norte recovered P5 million worth of cocaine off the shoreline in Vinzons.

Last year, some P125 million worth of cocaine was also recovered floating off the waters of Matnog, Sorsogon.
