The son of Bureau of Corrections chief Nicanor Faeldon Sr. was found negative for illegal drugs but the three other men who were arrested with him during Friday’s raid in Naga City failed the test.

The urine sample of Nicanor Faeldon Jr. tested free from the presence of “metamphetamine (shabu) and tetrahydrocannabinol (cannabis) metabolites, two both dangerous drugs,” according to the results released by the Camarines Sur Provincial Laboratory Office on Saturday.

The laboratory test was signed by Police Senior Insp. Vina Zarina Zadua-Conum, a forensic expert.

Faeldon Sr. said he knew his son would test negative for drugs, adding he had a good sleep while the investigation was ongoing.

“…all along I was more interested in allowing the investigation process to take its course. I did not want to interfere,” Faeldon said in an interview on Super Radyo dzBB, beamed nationwide.

The three other suspects—Russel Lanuzo alias “Bubbles”, 47; Allan Valdez, 44; and Manuel Nebres, 39, all tested positive for “shabu”.

Elements of the Naga City Police Drug Enforcement Unit, Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, and Philippine Army served a search warrant against Lanuzo in his house along San Miguel St., Barangay Mabolo, Naga City at about 5 a.m. Friday.

Senior Supt. Felix Servita Jr., chief of the Naga City Police, said the raid was conducted after they received intelligence information that Lanuzo had allegedly been maintaining a drug den in his house.

The suspects were arrested during the raid and the search around the house yielded seven plastic sachets containing suspected shabu.

However, Faeldon Jr. said he had no knowledge of any illegal drug activity in the area.

He told police he was only living in Lanuzo’s house with his girlfriend since they were both studying in Naga City.

But he explained why his son was there at the house police raided on suspicion that it was a drug den.

“As far as his presence there is concerned, I make it clear I transferred him there for his studies in Naga City.”

He said his son’s girlfriend was the eldest daughter of the suspect targeted by the raid.

“My assumption is that he was there because his girlfriend is the owner of the house.”

The older Faeldon also protested that his son had no vice.

“So it will shock me if he turns out positive for drugs. Knowing him, he is very, very quiet.”

Moreover, he said his son and his girlfriend had been out of school for four years, and that lately, the couple decided to go back to school.

Faeldon said he allowed his son to transfer to Naga City last May to continue his studies together with his girlfriend.

Asked about his reaction to those who don’t believe in the result of the drug test, Faeldon said, “I know that I am a controversial person…I don’t care what they say. I just allow the process to take its course. I cannot please everybody.”
