LPA over GenSan brewing into ‘Samuel’

A low-pressure area spotted 250 kilometers east of General Santos City is brewing and likely to develop into a tropical depression, the weather bureau said Monday.

Jomaila Garrido, a forecaster at the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, said the weather disturbance would be named “Samuel” once it became a tropical depression.

“We are still [closely] monitoring the LPA. Based on our analysis, it is possible to become a tropical depression if it does not change its track,” Garrido told the Manila Standard.

The weather system is expected to bring moderate to occasional heavy rain over the Caraga region, Davao, northern Mindanao and the Zamboanga Peninsula.
