Typhoon “Queenie” furthered intensified on Tuesday, but the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the typhoon will not make landfall.

Weather forecaster Gener Quitlong said “Queenie” was sighted at 1,080 kilometers east of Tuguegarao packing maximum sustained winds of 200 kms per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 245 km/hr.

It was moving northwest at 15 km/h.

“The typhoon is forecast not to make landfall if it does not change its track,” Quitlong told the Manila Standard.

“Queenie” is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday, he said.
