President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday assured all local government units they will get a fair share in terms of financial assistance or infrastructure programs under his administration, regardless of their political affiliation.

Speaking before a crowd during the launching of the Malasakit Center at the hospital in Cebu, Duterte said he has instructed Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno to give financial assistance to local government officials the same way other LGU officials who belong to the administration party have.

“I told Diokno to give them all. I don’t care what party they belong to,” Duterte said.

“If there’s anything I can really do for you, personally or if you want my intervention in your governance, you’ve found funds hard to get or your money’s lacking, just tell us,” he added.

The President stressed that his priority is to fulfill his campaign promises to the people, such as eliminating corruption and illegal drugs, maintaining peace and order, and forging lasting peace in Mindanao.

Duterte also insisted he is not interested in politicking, more so in extending his term.

He said he would immediately step down from office if the country has shifted to a successful federal government by 2020.

“If it’s already perfected in 2020, I will step down, I promise you that. That is my commitment to you, to the governors and to all the mayors,” he ended.
