THE Office of the Ombudsman has ordered the filing of a graft case against ex-mayor Anlie Apostol of Leyte's Carigara town with the Sandiganbayan for the questionable rehabilitation of a small water impounding system project in 2010.
Based on the findings of the Ombudsman’s field investigation office in Region 8, the municipality received P6 million to fund the project for the repair of the small water impounding system in barangays Binibihan, San Isidro and Paglaum.
A total of P5,417,852.82 was paid to New Leyte Ever Hardware Co. for construction materials and supplies.
Investigators said the supposed construction was a ghost project since there was no actual delivery of supplies for such purpose.
