President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday has named members of his Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission, with Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption founding chairman Dante Jimenez leading as its first head.

Duterte also named Gregorio Luis Contacto, losing senatorial aspirant Greco Belgica, and Rickson Chiong as commissioners.

In October last year, Duterte created the PACC after he threatened to investigate the Office of the Ombudsman, which he accused of partiality and corruption, after it pushed through with its investigation on the alleged hidden wealth of President Duterte and his family.

The President alleged that the Ombudsman favored the opposition Liberal Party on learning that none of its members were being investigated for the misuse of funds through the Disbursement Acceleration Program, which the Supreme Court ruled as illegal.

The President also said corruption was “rampant” in the agency that was supposed to go after grafters in the government.
