Taking a family spat public, Davao Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte on Friday vented his ire on social media toward his eldest daughter, Isabelle, for her mean tweets toward him, and supposedly allowing herself to get “pimped” twice.
In a Facebook post, President Rodrigo Duterte’s son told his social-media-savvy daughter—who was herself at the center of controversy recently for having a pre-debut photo shoot at Malacañang no less—to change her last name for supposedly being a “disgrace” to the clan.
Writing in Cebuano, the vice mayor said: “Dili ingon nga ug IBUGAW KA KADUHA ANANG TAWHANA MUHILOM LANG KO!! Ug kanang imong inahan ug tataytayan way pakialam nimo pwes ako dili! Dili tungod kay DUTERTE ko tungod kay AMAHAN KO!!! Pagkambyo ug apelyido ug gusto ka! Wala na kay respeto!”
[I won’t keep quiet after that person pimped you twice! And if your mom and stepdad don’t care about you, I’m not like them! Not because I’m a DUTERTE but because I am A FATHER!!! Change your last name if you want to! You don’t show any respect!],” Paolo said, without naming who allegedly pimped the presidential granddaughter.
The vice mayor blasted Isabelle, who is trying to pursue an acting career, for her seeming arrogance when she ranted against him in her Twitter account.
He said, again in Cebuano: “PAKAULAW LANG KA! PAGSKWELA SA LAGI aron d mablanko imong utok. d na ka kabalo maminaw kay SIKAT kuno ka?? SIKAT SA UNSA BELLE? SIKAT MUBASTOS UG AMAHAN??! HULAT SA MAMATAY KO USA KA MALIBRE NAKO! IAMPO DAY!
[You are a disgrace! Go to school first so your brain won’t be empty. You no longer know how to listen because you think you’re popular? Popular for what, Belle? Popular for disrespecting your father??! Just wait for my death so you will be free of me! Pray for it, woman!]”
Paolo stressed that he didn’t think of the repercussions of his Facebook post, only to teach her daughter a “lesson.”
“Kabalo ko kitang tanan mapahiya aning post na ni. pero kani imong gusto! Dri ta magstorya kay millenial kuno ka, dri ra ka maminaw sa imong number of likes?! Pwes, wa koy labot ug naa ko sa posisyon o mapahiya ko, ANAK taka! Wa koy labot sa uban tao ug mao ra ning kinahanglan aron masayud ka sa imong binuhatan!
[I know all of us (Dutertes) will be humiliated because of this post. But this is what you want! Let’s talk here because you’re a supposed millennial. You only listen here with your number of likes?! Well, I don’t care if I have a position or I will be humiliated, you are my daughter! I don’t care what other people will say if this is the only way you will learn from your actions!]”
Prior to the vice mayor’s rant, Isabelle, on her Twitter account early Friday, slammed her father for allegedly beating up a person, supposedly a friend of hers since seventh grade.
“Dili ingon naa kay posisyon sa city kay pwede na ka mangulata!!!! di ingon naa kay power kay pwede naka manakit ug tao!!!! tao gihapon na imong gina hilabtan!!!! di lang kay tao, bata na!!!! dili ingon naa kay pangalan pwede naka mag ana!!!! dili ingon kay duterte ka, pwede na!!!!
[Even if you have a position in the city, you can’t beat up a person! Even if you have power, you can’t hurt another person! You are hurting a human being! Not just human being, but a child! Even if you have a name, you can’t do things like that! Even if you’re a Duterte, that is unacceptable!],” she said.
In another tweet, Isabelle said: “My dad f**ks up my christmas every year. What a time to be alive.”
Responding to this, her father responded: “P.S. FIX YOUR F**KING LIFE FIRST before I will stop ‘f**king up’ your Christmas every year.”
Isabelle, the vice mayor’s daughter with his ex-wife, Lovelie Sangkola Sumera, earlier drew flak from netizens after she turned Malacanang into her own private photo studio as the venue of her pre-debut photoshoot.
Isabelle’s true age was also questioned when the Davao City Government website listed her birth date as January 26, 2002, making her just 15 years old.
