To help ease traffic congestion in Metro Manila, the Department of Transportation, through the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina), is set to operationalize the ferry boat routes between Cavite and Metro Manila.
The operationalization of these routes includes the following phases: 1) Phase 1 -Metro Star Ferry Terminal (Cavite City Hall)/Sangley Port to SM MOA Ferry Terminal; 2) Phase 1-Metro Star Ferry Terminal (Cavite City Hall)/ Sangley Port to CCP Port; 3) Phase 2-Metro Star Ferry Terminal (Cavite City Hall)/ Sangley Port to Escolta, Manila and 4) Phase 2-Metro Star Ferry Terminal (Cavite City Hall)/ Sangley Port to Lawton Ferry Terminal.
The dry run for Phase 1 of the Cavite to Metro Manila routes is expected to happen in the first week of December 2019.
Shipping companies such as Shogun Ships Co. Inc., Starlite Ferries Inc., Seaborne Shipping Lines Inc. and Pinoy Catamaran Corp. also showed their interest in participating in the operationalization of these routes.
