The Agriculture department said it would release the results of the tests made which were recently confiscated in Mindoro.
Agriculture Assistant Secretary Noel Reyes on Monday told reporters that the tests conducted by at the Bureau of Animal Industry and United Kingdom laboratories will determine which of the more than 30 strains of ASF is present in the confiscated products.
The tests would also show if the strain found was live or not, as well as its virulence.
Also up for testing are meat products from China that were seized over the weekend, as well as samples voluntarily submitted by several processed meat manufacturers.
The DA, however, has yet to identify the brand of the processed meat product confiscated in Mindoro although Mekeni Food Corporation has already recalled its pork products from the market.
“We appreciate their initiative,” Reyes said.
“With the recall, sana bumalik na ang demand for processed meats.
Nasaktan na ang hog raisers and meat processors. All of them contribute to our economy,” Reyes he added.
Reyes also urged local government units currently implementing a ban on live hogs and pork products from ASF-affected provinces in the country to reconsider their orders.
