Customs agents seized printing machines worth millions of pesos which were being used to print fake cigarette labels and packaging cartons and arrested five Chinese and a Filipino.

The BOC agents raided a warehouse in Valenzuela City after receiving information that a  warehouse in Cantillon Street, Valenzuela is involved in the manufacturing of fake cigarette labels and packaging cartons.

Found inside the warehouse were illegally imported printing machines, cutting machines used for printing unauthorized cigarette pack labels and carton labels bearing the brands Fortune, Mark, Hope, More, and Jackpot trademarks.

The five Chinese citizens and the Filipino were brought to the police station and appropriate charges will be filed against them.

The pack labels and carton labels, otherwise known as “hinge lid blanks,” were examined by the representatives from Philip Morris Inc. confirmed that the seized items were fake and do not bear the characteristics of the original  Fortune, Mark, More and Jackpot hinge lid blanks.

The six will face criminal charges for violation of the provisions of Republic Act 8293, otherwise known as the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines and pertinent provisions of RA 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
