Malolos City—Two unidentified passengers of a trainer plane, believed to be an instructor and a student pilot, cheated death this morning when their C-152 single-engine plane, with Tail No. RP-C9986, took-off but failed to gain height and crashed at the end of Runway 35 of the Plaridel airport in Barangay Lumang Bayan, Plaridel, Bulacan.

Manila Standard tried to reach Plaridel airport manager Ed Lansang, but as in previous instances when plane crashes occur in the accident-prone Bulacan airstrip, the officer of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines is again unreachable.

However, information gathered from residents near the airport said the plane crash occurred past 10 in the morning.

Eric Apolonio, CAAP spokesman, said that both passengers of the C-152 trainer plane were safe and unhurt in the accident. The plane is owned and operated by SWAT-Strikewing Aviation Training Center, one of several training and flying schools based at the Plaridel airport.

Almost a year ago last March 17, five residents of Purok Tres in Barangay Lumang Bayan were killed when a six-seater Piper Apache plane, owned by Lite Air Express, crash-landed at a house while the family was having lunch.

The plane’s pilot and four of its passengers bound for a trip to Batanes airport were killed after the plane failed to gain speed and smashed to a three before bursting into flames over the house of the victims.
