Palace sets six special holidays

Malacañang declared six special non-working holidays in diferent areas of the country this month to give the public the opportunity to celebrate important occasions in their respective areas.

According to Proclamation 661, February 11, Monday, is considered a special non-working holiday in Talisay, Negros Occidental to allow the people to celebrate the city’s 21st Charter Anniversary.

People in Laoag, Ilocos Norte will also have an ample time to participate in the province’s Pamulinawen Festival as Proclamation 662 also declared Feb. 11 a special non-working holiday in the city.

The proclamation noted that the Office of the Mayor requested for the festival to be celebrated on the given date instead of Feb. 10, which falls on a Sunday.

The people of Iriga, Camarines Sur will also be treated with a special non-working holiday on Monday to celebrate the ancient Bicolano First-Harvest Offering occasion called the Tinagba Festival.

“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Iriga be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies,” Proclamation 663 read.

On the other hand, Proclamation 664 declared a special non-working holiday on Feb. 12, Tuesday, for the celebration of its 21st Founding Anniversary in Kidapawan City, Cotabato.

Feb. 13, Wednesday, is also declared a special non-working holiday in Parañaque City to make the celebration of its cityhood anniversary.

Meanwhile, Proclamation 666 has declared a special non-working holiday in Taytay, Rizal for the celebration of the Araw ng Pasasalamat: HAMAKA Festival.

By authority of President Rodrigo Duterte, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea signed the proclamations on Wednesday. 

The Palace then released the six proclamations on Friday.
