DPWH reconstructs Biliran road

The reconstruction of P27-million farm-to-market road projects in Biliran Province will be completed by the end of 2018 which is expected to provide abundant opportunities to local farmers and producers, the Department of Public Works and Highways said.

The project is funded under the 2018 Convergence Program of DPWH and the Department of Agriculture to help boost agricultural productivity in the towns of Caibiran, Cabucgayan, Almeria, and Naval, DPWH-Biliran district engineer David Adongay Jr. said.

He said the ongoing FMR projects include the concreting FMR to connect Barangay Matanggo to Sitio Patag in Barangay Tabunan, town of Almeria; FMR at Sitio Canumay in Barangay Baso, town of Cabucgayan; FMR at Sitio Libtong Gamay, Barangay Libtong, town of Naval.

DPWH has already completed the concreting of 500-meter FMR connecting Barangay Kaulanguhan to Kawayanon in the town of Caibiran with budget amounting to P5 million.

Meanwhile, DPWH-Biliran has also completed the concreting of 700-meter FMR from Barangay Haguikhikan to Sitio Rosales in the town of Naval amounting to P7 million, which is funded under the FY 2016 Yolanda Restructuring Program.

Farm-to-market roads are priority projects of the department in the mountainous province of Biliran which can support various agricultural crops such as rice and other high-value crops traditionally grown in cool highlands.
