Paco Rotary Club of Manila launches e-trike info drive

The 25-year-old Rotary Club of Paco, Manila, headed by its president Julius Galang, recently launched a two-pronged program aimed primarily to benefit the premier city’s tricycle operator and driver groups and, subsequently, other public transport organizations.

According to Galang, the twin projects—the e-trike livelihood information campaign and the road safety seminar—will redound to the enhancement of supplementary earnings for tricycle and public utility drivers and owners who are expected to gain enough knowledge of road safety measures.

The main beneficiaries of these dual undertakings are the almost 500-strong members of the Federation of Manila Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association, Galang said in a press statement.

Throughout the years, the RC-Paco has been helping, in its modest way, in alleviating the poor conditions of barangays in Manila and nearby provinces.

Its medical missions, educational and calamity assistance projects, and tree-planting and feeding programs, among others, are the avenues that the Paco Rotarians are using to realize its so-called “sense of community service” drives.

In the near future, Galang plans to initiate moves that will address the needs of the elderlies/senior citizens, single parents, out-of-school youths, battered women, and hazing and bullying in schools.

All the local Rotarians’ undertakings are done through proper coordination with concerned national and local government agencies, and mostly with Manila City Hall.
