Taiwan donates $250,000 for typhoon victims

“‹The Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) donated $250,000 as humanitarian relief fund to the bereaved families and victims in North Luzon devastated by Typhoon Ompong

To help the Government and the people of the Philippines for the recovery from the damage caused by Ompong, Ambassador Peiyung Hsu, Representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines, on behalf of his government and his countrymen donated the amount as humanitarian relief fund, TECO said in a statement.

The donation ceremony was held during the Republic of China National Day reception at the Sofitel Hotel on Oct. 9. 

Taiwan’s act of benevolence fully demonstrates the genuine friendship and solidarity between the peoples of Taiwan and the Philippines, TECO said.

Rep. Hsu turned over Taiwan’s donation to Angelito Banayo, chairman and Resident Representative of Manila Economic and Cultural Office, Philippine Representative Office in Taiwan.

Banayo in turn expressed the government’s gratitude to Taiwan’s donation.
