The sketch or boceto of Juan Luna’s renowned “Spoliarium” was sold for P63 million at the Salcedo Auction Saturday.
The online news site of ABS-CBN reported the bidding for the Spoliarium boceto took nearly 24 minutes.
The auction came weeks after the discovery of Juan Luna sketch became viral online.
“Anyone who buys this, you will not have to make trips to National Museum anymore,” the auctioneer said.
The boceto’s initial bidding price was placed at P25 million.
Considered as Luna’s greatest work, the Spoliarium is at the National Museum in Manila.
