CPP’s Sison says Du30 ‘delusional’

The Communist Party of the Philippines said Wednesday that President Rodrigo Duterte is “delusional” after the President said that the five-decade long insurgency of communist rebels and revolutionaries in the country will end by 2019.

“Duterte is delusional by claiming that he shall have destroyed the CPP-NPA and the entire revolutionary movement of the people by the middle of next year,” said CPP founding chairman Jose Ma. Sison in a statement.

Sison claimed that Duterte is “pipe dreaming” and his remark was brought by too much intake of fentanyl, a pain reliever which the president admitted to use as medicine.

“He forgets that the campaigns of mass murder, mass intimidation, fake surrenders and fake encounters under Oplan Kapayapaan are angering the people and inciting them to íntensify their resistance,” said Sison.

Sison added that the Duterte administration is bankrupt and weakened by bureaucratic and military corruption, excessive military and police spending, counterproductive projects, mounting debt burden and budgetary and trade deficits.

“The government has imposed regressive taxes on the consuming public and caused the prices of basic goods and services to soar to unaffordable levels,” Sison, who is also the National Democratic Front of the Philippines chief political consultant, added.

Sison also tagged Duterte as a clown for giving jobs and houses to the millions of people who participate in the revolutionary movement.

“He is now the target of people´s rising hatred. They reject the traitorous, tyrannical, murderous and corrupt character of his regime,” said Sison.

“It is more likely that Duterte would be ousted from power than that he could destroy the people´s revolutionary movement by the middle of next year,” he added.

In his visit to troops at Camp Melchor F. Dela Cruz in Gamu, Isabela on Tuesday, the President believed that the communist movement will end by mid-2019.

“I think, God forbid, this will be over by about the second quarter of next year. There are plenty of surrenderees. And what’s good is that they will also surrender their weapons,” Duterte told the troops in his speech Tuesday evening.

“I think we are winning the war finally. There are many fronts in Mindanao that have failed. Especially on the right side, Davao and Agusan. In the west, they have no strong front because the Moros are there,” added the President.

Duterte also recognized the military’s efforts which have resulted to almost a hundred of surrenderees from the New People’s Army, the armed-wing of CPP.

“The development of our nation has always been hindered by insurgency and terrorism. I therefore commend the active involvement and relentless efforts of the 5th Infantry Division against various threat groups in your area of operations,” he said.
