Tacloban City—In celebration of this year’s “Eye Health and Safety Awareness Month” in August, a free eye checkup and cataract operation for all men and women aged 60 years old and above is scheduled in Tacloban City.

Organized by Tingog Sinirangan Party-list group, in cooperation with the RTR Medical Program Services and the Congressional Office of Leyte First District Rep. Yedda Romualdez, the medical program is open to all persons suffering eye problem in Eastern Visayas.

“This is not limited to Leyteños only,” said Ivy Jane Dacallos, office manager of Tingog Sinirangan party-list.

“Those who would like to avail [themselves of] the operation have to visit our office for the laboratory screening, which is also for free,” she added.

The registration and screening will run until July 31.

Dacallos instructed those who would like to avail themselves of the Tingog Medical Program to visit their office at the Community Center corner Real Sagkahan street in front of Tacloban Astrodome, for referral checkup and pre-operative screening endorsement.

After the registration, they will proceed to Remedios Trinidad Romualdez Eye Center Out-patient department for the checkup and screening.

The checkup and screening is open only from 8:30 am to 12 nn, Wednesday to Saturday.

PhilHealth information is needed to avail one’s self of the free operation for 60 years old and above patients.

“It’s first come, first served basis. But we have no quota for the number of patients.  We’ll have to finish the screening first to identify the possible numbers of patients for the operation,” Dacallos added.

This is the first eye operation to be conducted by their group for this year.

Tingog Sinirangan and Romualdez have organized four medical programs this 2018.

Its recent Tingog Medical Program was at Brgy. San Agustin, in Jaro, Leyte on June 20, benefiting over 400 residents in the area.

The free medical, dental and wellness services were delivered through the joint efforts of Tingog Sinirangan, Philippine Association of Medical Technologists Iligan, Philippine Army, Local Government of Jaro, JCI Candahug Liberation,  and JCI Kulintang Inc.

The free medical consultation was given by the medical team from Remedios Trinidad Romualdez Medical Foundation, Department of Health -Leyte Provincial Office, Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center, and student group Akma ResBak.
