Ligaya Buquiran, vice president of the Elderly Ministry of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Brookside Hills, Cainta, Rizal, is among 50 holding Marian titles in today’s Santacruzan festival during a procession in the middle-income subdivision of the parish.

The 72-year-old grandmother, also active in the BHSCA chorale group, will be marching with 49 others, including the Reyna Elena, at 7 tonight in the subdivision streets—her title an allusion to the Virgin Mary, usually found in the Litany of Loreto.

The procession will be led by the parish priest, Fr. Jaime Padilla, and leaders of the different ministries and councils including the Elderly Ministry led by Willie Imperial of Cabugao, Ilocos Sur.

The Santacruzan, a ritual procession on the last day of the “Flores de Mayo,” honors the finding of the “true cross” by Helena of Constantinople, known as Reyna Elena, comes 13 days to the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
