The Philippine National Police leadership has forfeited the mid-year bonus for 1,988 policemen who were penalized for various administrative cases.

“PNP personnel who were penalized for administrative cases with penalty higher than reprimand are not eligible to receive the mid-year bonus,” said PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde.

Albayalde said the non-granting of mid-year bonus was in accordance with PNP existing policy.

However, in lieu of a resolution to the administrative cases, policemen are still entitled to receive their respective mid-year bonus.

He explained that the forfeiture covers all policemen who were suspended from the police service because of their standing administrative cases.

He said that policemen who are meted with even a one-day suspension are still not covered by the granting of mid-year bonus.

“While your administrative cases is  ongoing makakatanggap ka pa kung hindi pa naman resolved. However, kung meron ng resolution even just for one day of suspension tanggal iyong mid-year bonus,” Albayalde explained.

As for policemen without pending cases and have received their mid-year bonus, Albayalde reminded them to spend it with their families.

“I think they should spend it with their families. They should declare it to their wives because you cannot conceal that because it is included in their ATM especially if the ATS are with their wives,” Albayalde said.

The PNP National Headquarters has released P6,015,920,562.00 to pay for the mid-year bonuses of 189,263 active duty PNP personnel.

PNP Director for Comptrollership, Police Director Ramon Purugganan said the PNP Finance Service has credited the mid-year bonus to the individual Land Bank of the Philippines ATM payroll accounts of 177,637 PNP uniformed personnel and 11,626 PNP non-uniformed personnel.

The mid-year bonus is equivalent to one month basic salary.

Entitled to receive the midyear bonus are personnel who have rendered service for at least four (4) months from July 1 of the immediate preceding year to May 15 of the current year; and personnel with at least a satisfactory performance rating in the immediate preceding rating period.
