A joint panel in the House of Representatives has approved a substitute bill that addresses motorcycle crime by requiring larger license plates and other identification marks.

The House committee on transportation, and on public order and safety chaired by Reps. Cesar Sarmiento of Catanduanes and Romeo Acop of Antipolo City, respectively, consolidated House Bills 5381, 5714, 5839 and 6226, authored by Victor Yap of Tarlac, Deputy Speaker Ferdinand Hernandez, Reynaldo Umali of Oriental Mindoro, and HB 6226 of Camarines Sur.

“A person with criminal intent will always find a way to perpetrate his crime. Let us hope that this measure will truly aid law enforcers in apprehending such criminals, thus becoming an effective deterrent against criminality,” Acop said.
