Gadon eyes criminal rap vs. Sereno, 10 others

Lawyer Lorenzo "Larry" Gadon is threatening to file criminal complaints against Supreme Court Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

He also warned he will include as respondents 12 personnel of the high tribunal.

Gadon says, he will go to court if Sereno fails to step down by March 1.

The lawyer intends to use as evidence the alleged missing Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) of Sereno.

He explained Sereno did not submit all her SALNs when she applied to be a member of the Supreme Court (SC) and yet the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) still included her in its shortlist.

Gadon says, this lack of documents was revealed during the impeachment hearing of the House of Representatives.

Last January 26, Gadon had also filed graft charges against Sereno citing her alleged non-filing of SALNs.

This was during the time she was still a professor in the University of the Philippines (UP).

House Justice Committee Chairman Reynaldo Umali, however, doubts if these moves will prosper.

He maintains Sereno has immunity from suit in any local court.

He says, the chief magistrate can only be removed in an impeachment proceeding.

Gadon is the complainant in the House impeachment hearings against Sereno.
