'Basyang' weakens into a tropical depression

Tropical storm "Basyang" has weakened into a tropical depression.

This comes after the weather disturbance made landfall in Cortes, Surigao del Sur at 9:15 am.

Weather bureau PAGASA has located the tropical depression in the vicinity of Cantilan, Surigao del Sur.

It is packing maximum sustained winds of up to 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of 75 kph.

Basyang is moving west northwest at 25 kph.

Tropical cyclone signal number 1 is up over the following areas:

Calamian and Cuyo group of islands

Aklan 

Capiz

Antique

Iloilo

Guimaras

Negros Occidental

Negros Oriental

Siquijor

Bohol

Cebu

Biliran

Leyte

Southern Leyte

Southern section of Samar

Surigao del Norte

Surigao del Sur

Agusan del Norte

Agusan del Sur

Camiguin

Misamis Oriental

Northern section of Bukidnon

Lanao del Norte

Northern section of Lanao del Sur

Misamis Occidental
