The term of Social Security System (SSS) Chairperson Amado Valdez is finished.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque says, Valdez's appointment expired in June last year.
Roque notes, the SSS chief is just staying in his office in a hold-over capacity.
The former dean of the University of the East (UE) College of Law was appointed to the post in October 2016.
Aside from Valdez, Malacañang has also ended the term of SSS Commissioner Jose Gabriel "Pompee" La Viña.
Roque says, the appointment of the two officials will not be renewed by the Office of the President.
The palace did not provide reasons.
La Viña had previously disclosed that several SSS officials were involved in some questionable stock trading activities.
