THE Public Attorney’s Office on Monday was monitoring the deaths of three children previously inoculated with Dengvaxia vaccine.
Erwin Erfe, PAO forensic consultant, noted a pattern on the deaths of Anjielica Pestilos, 10; Zandro Colita, 11, and Lenard Baldonado, 10, whose bodies were exhumed and examined.
He said the children died within six months after the administration of Dengvaxia, and he observed similar findings on their deaths.
He cited the enlargement of different organs and bleeding on several parts of the body, such as the lungs, stomach and mouth.
The children had no previous history with dengue before being injected with Dengvaxia.
Erfe said the children’s parents sought their forensic expertise.
At least 19 children died due to Dengvaxia.
“Right now, we are collating the results of the examinations.
We noted a pattern of their illnesses before the children passed away,” Erfe said.
The Food and Drug Administration suspended the sale of Dengvaxia for a year and imposed a fine of P100,000 on the French pharmaceutical giant Sanofi Pasteur for failure to comply with post-marketing authorization requirements for the vaccine.
The agency also ordered the pullout of Dengvaxia vaccines in the market.
The Department of Health began its mass dengue immunization program for public school students in 2016.
