Militant group Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN) has filed charges of graft and violation of the Government Procurement Reform Act against former officials of the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC).
This is in connection with the P 3.8 billion worth of maintenance service contract with Busan Transportation Corporation for the Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3).
BAYAN Secretary General Renato Reyes led the filing of the complaints at the Ombudsman.
Among those named as respondents were Former Transportation Secretary Jun Abaya, Former MRT General Manager Roman Buenafe and Former Transportation Undersecretary Rene Limcaoco.
Bayan decided to submit separate graft charges against these individuals because the group believes the cases previously filed by the Depertment of Transportation (DOTr) are not enough.
