The Commission on Elections has reset the dates for filing of Certificates of Candidacy for the barangay and sangguniang kabataan elections in anticipation of the approval of a law suspending the local elections.
Commissioner Andres Bautista said the Comelec en banc moved the filing period from Sept. 23 to 30 to Oct. 5 to 11, 2017 to afford more time for both Congress and Senate to approve a law suspending the village and SK elections.
“The Comelec en banc has reset the filing of CoCs for village and SK elections to October 5, 2017 since the bill postponing it has yet to be approved and signed into law,” he said.
He said that two separate bills are still pending which call for the deferment of the same elections to 2018.
