Palace suspends classes & work on Sept. 21

Malacanang has suspended work in government offices and classes in public schools on September 21, 2017 (Thursday).

Palace is leaving it up to the discretion of heads the work in private companies and classes in private schools.

Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella says, September 21 is not a special non-working holiday.

He says, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea is expecting the signing of a proclamation declaring Thursday a Day of Protest.

Abella is advising law enforcers to stay away from mass actions and exercise restraint in dealing with demonstrators.

September 21 marks Former President Ferdinand Marcos' declaration of Martial Law back in 1972.
