VACC's impeach bid vs. Sereno junked

The Committee on Justice in the House of Representatives has dismissed the impeachment complaint filed by the groups Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) and Vanguard against Supreme Court Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

This was during a hearing on Wednesday.

28 lawmakers voted to throw out the complaint while 5 voted to find the documents sufficient in form.

Majority of the committee members found the complaint lacking in verifications.

Earlier during the hearing, lawmakers found a separate impeachment complaint against Sereno to be sufficient in form and substance.

This was the complaint submitted by Attorney Lorenzo Gadon.

The committee gave Sereno 10 days to reply to the impeachment charge filed by Gadon at the House of Representatives.
