The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee is set to summon to its hearing Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte and Attorney Mans Carpio, the son-in-law of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Committee chairman Richard Gordon has set the inquiry on Thursday, September 7, 2017.

The two men will face the Senate investigation into the P 6.4-billion worth of shabu allegedly smuggled into the Philippines from China.

The shipment went passed through the green lane of the Bureau of Customs last May.

During last Thursday's probe, Gordon and Trillanes engaged in a heated argument.

Trillanes was insisting that the President's son and son-in-law should be invited to appear in the proceeding.

Gordon was not keen on summoning the two as he saw the allegations against them to be "hearsay."

Customs fixer Mark Taguba had linked the vice mayor to a Davao group allegedly involved in smuggling at BOC.

However, there have been no evidence so far that would link Paolo Duterte and Carpio to the drug shipment last May.

Senator Vicente Sotto preferred that the Senate first focus on the particular shipment of 604 kilos of shabu.

He believes any investigation on allegations against other people on transactions not related to the shipment last May merits a separate hearing.

Meanwhile, Gordon may file today a complaint against Trillanes in the Senate Ethics Committee.

Gordon was incensed after Trillanes he branded the Blue Ribbon as "committee de abswelto."
