Animal quarantine checkpoints set up in Pampanga

Two checkpoints have been set up by local authorities in Barangay San Carlos in San Luis, Batangas.

This is to prevent the transport of poultry from this area where bird flu outbreak was declared on Friday.

Aside from San Carlos, the outbreak has also been declared in Barangay Santa Rita.

The Department of Agriculture (DA) has classified the two areas as quarantine sites.

On Saturday, officials from the Department of Agriculture (DA) met with poultry farms owners.

They agreed to cull about 200,000 fowls that were within the one-kilometer radius set by the DA.

Pampanga has been declared under state of calamity.
