House opens second regular session

The second regular session of the seventeenth (17^th) Congress has begun in the House of Representatives on Monday morning.

House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez addressed the assembly and hailed the accomplishments of the chamber during the first regular session.

He also tackled the assignments of House committees for the second regular session.

At noon time, lawmakers are taking a break.

They will return to the plenary to listen to President Rodrigo Duterte’s second State of the Nation Address (SONA) at 4 pm.

From 291 last week, the chamber now has 293 members.

This comes with the oath-taking of two new members who are party-list representatives of senior citizens.
