Government registers lower budget deficit this year

Government’s budget deficit stands at P 30.2 billion as of April this year.

This is 47% lower compared to the same period last year, which was P 57.5 billion.

Meanwhile, National Treasurer Rosalia De Leon reports, government has also registered a budget surplus amounting to P 52.8 billion last month.

The figure is lower than the surplus for the same period last year, which was P 55 billion.

The National Treasury also said government revenues also went down.

From 246.6 billion in 2016, revenues in April of 2017 dropped to P 235.9 billion.
