Duterte meets Widodo in Malacañang as ASEAN leaders arrive at NAIA

President Rodrigo Duterte has  welcomed Indonesian President Joko Widodo in Malacañang on Friday afternoon.

The Indonesian head of state is on a state visit to the Philippines and he is, at the same time, attending the Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN) Leaders' Summit on Saturday at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.

He arrived at the Kalayaan Grounds at 3:30 pm and was given arrival honors.

Afterwards, he signed the guest book and went on a meeting with Duterte at the Music Room of the Palace.

A bilateral meeting between Duterte and the Indonesian prime minister is ongoing.

These developments come, as other heads of state who are joining the ASEAN Summit continue to arrive at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

Nobel laureate and Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi’s plane arrived at the NAIA Terminal 2 at 2:40 pm.

She represents Myanmar’s head of state.

Thailand Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha arrived at NAIA Terminal 1 at past 3 pm.

He held a bilateral meeting with Duterte during the Philippine president’s visit to Thailand last month.
