The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has set a limit of six (6) hours to the driving hours of passenger bus drivers.

A memorandum circular was released by the agency for this purpose.

The LTFRB says, “in excess of 6 hours, an alternate driver on standby shall take over.

“The conductor cannot be an alternate driver in order for him to provide continuous assistance to the passengers,” the circular further states.

The LTFRB explains, “driver fatigue is a serious problem in many road mishaps.”

Second offense will cost the operators  a fine of P 10,000 and suspension of 30 days.

Third offense carries a penalty of suspension for two months.
