Flag carrier expands presence in N. America

TWO more Boeing 777-300ERs will be added to the fleet of Philippine Airlines to expand the flag carrier’s presence in North America.

The airline recently forged an agreement with Intrepid Aviation for the lease of two more brand-new B777s which will arrive in December 2017 and January 2018.

PAL president and chief operating officer Jaime Bautista said with the new planes, the airline will now have a total of 10 B777 for its long range fleet and an overall fleet of 78 aircraft. 

The two new aircraft will also be introduced to London route as well.

The new deliveries, with the expected arrival of the first of six brand new A350-900s next year, will augur well for the airline’s transpacific routes.

PAL is also expecting the arrival of the Q400 Next Generation turboprops for domestic flights starting July 2017. 

The first of 21 A321 NEOs will arrive beginning January 2018. 

The airline, in partnership with telecommunication company Globe, will mark its 76th year by way of a three-day expo in Bonifacio Global City, enabling the public to experience the different products and service innovations lined up as the carrier continues its journey towards becoming a 5-star full service carrier by 2020. 

“Philippine Airlines has been continuing the tradition of service innovation to provide passengers a heartwarming travel experience that represents the best of the Philippines and the best of the Filipinos,” said Bautista during the media launch at the BGC in Taguig City last Friday. 

He added “With our lineup of initiatives, we are committed to make people all over the world experience the unique brand of service that can only come from The Heart of the Filipino.”

During the expo, the public will have a chance to experience the newest B777-300ER of Philippine Airlines via the B777 360 Virtual Tour. 

Guests will also have a chance to see PAL’s Enhanced Inflight Entertainment System as PAL unveils the upgraded myPAL eSuite in-seat monitors which will have its debut in the newly reconfigured A330s. 

Attendees of the event are some of the first to experience this latest and modern inflight entertainment technology which provides more media content and new functions like a direct messaging from the crew and a dedicated option for children called “Little PALs” among many others.
