Former Senator Leticia Ramos-Shahani has passed away.
Her daughter, Lila Shahani, said her mother died at 2:40 am on Monday.
The former lawmaker was battling with cancer.
At the time of her death, the 87-year-old Shahani was confined at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital in Taguig City.
She was the sister of former President Fidel Ramos.
Shahani was in foreign service for two decades.
She was once the United Nations Secretary General for Social Development and Humanitarian Affairs.
She also served as Philippine Ambassador to Australia, Romania, Hungary and West Germany.
She became Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs and Chairperson of the National Commission on Women.
Shahani was elected senator in 1987 and had chaired several committees as a legislator.
