Executive order on nationwide smoking ban for signing today

The executive order that orders a smoking ban in all public places nationwide is expected to be released within today.

The paper prepared by the Department of Health (DOH) only needs the signature of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Health Secretary Paulyn Ubial drafted the document upon the request of the Chief Executive.

She says, the order enforces 100 percent smoking ban in all public places.

These areas include parks, bus stations and vehicles along roads.

Ubial says, the model for the plan is Davao City that has long imposed a smoke-free environment in all public areas.
