Groups hold demonstrations for EDSA People Power Anniversary

Different groups are conducting several activities all throughout Saturday to commemorate the 31st Anniversary of EDSA People Power Revolution.

Former Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita led the flag-raising ceremony at People Power Monunument on Saturday morning.

The program was simple and solemn.

Meanwhile, youth groups held a demonstration in the same site before noon.

They condemned the burial of Former President Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan Ng Mga Bayani in Taguig City.

Some student organizations attended a mass at De La Salle Greenhills. 

They intend to hold a program in front of the People Power Monument at 4 pm.

Meanwhile, about a thousand members of militant groups marched from EDSA Shrine.

At 12 noon, they headed towards Camp Aguinaldo where they would hold a protest rally.

About a hundred police were deployed at the corner of Boni Serrano Avenue and EDSA to ensure order.

The northbound lane of EDSA experienced a traffic congestion due to the presence of marchers.

In front of the United States in Manila, four persons were wounded during the dispersal of hundreds of demonstrators.
