Makati extends deadline for taxes

The city government of Makati is extending the tax payment deadline without penalties or surcharges to accommodate more businessmen applying for Mayor’s Permit and business licenses until the end of the month.

Under City Ordinance No. 

For Real Property Tax assessment and collection, taxpayers may avail of the 10-percent discount up to Jan. 31, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. only, provided payment is made in full.

Business Permit Office head Atty. Maribert Pagente urged clients to file their applications for renewal of business permits on or before the Jan. 25 deadline to avoid incurring additional charges. 

Penalties on late payments of business taxes include a 25-percent surcharge and a two-percent penalty per month of delay until the amount due is fully settled.

BPO and other frontline offices involved in the processing of business permit applications and tax payments will continue to extend work hours until Jan. 30 only. Their offices will be open to serve clients from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays, and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

The Realty Tax Division will extend work hours until 7:30 p.m. on weekdays, and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays until Jan. 30.

The following are the requirements for the renewal of business permits: Notarized Application Form (triplicate copy) with the following, Gross Declaration/Receipts of the Preceding Year, Number of Employees and Capital Investment; Previous Year Mayor’s Business Permit, Billing Assessment and Official Receipt; Audited Financial Statement and/or Income Tax Return for the year 2015.

For Consolidated Financial Statement, attach breakdown of gross sales/receipts and proof of payments from other Cities/Municipalities. For Fiscal Year Financial Statement, attach breakdown of gross sales/receipts from January to December.

Other requirements include Barangay Clearance for Business; Community Tax Certificate A and B for Sole/Single Proprietorship, C and C1 in case of Corporation or Partnership; and Comprehensive General Liability Insurance (exempted are Sari-Sari Stores, Carinderia and Lessor, except Building).

The requirements for new business application are the following: Locational Clearance; Contract of Lease between the lessor and the lessee (If leased, attach Mayor’s Permit of the building owner/landlord as a real estate lessor. If not, Contract of Lease between the lessee and sub-lessee with conformity of the building owner or building administrator. If owned, Transfer Certificate of Title or tax declaration);

Business Name Registration with the DTI, if sole/single proprietorship; Approved Articles of Incorporation or Articles of Partnership; Barangay Clearance; Public Liability Insurance (CGL); Inspection Report; and other pertinent information, documents and data that may be required.
