Manila drug gang members die in Jones Bridge shootout

Manila Police District operatives killed three alleged drug gang members in a shootout under the Jones Bridge after a buy-bust operation in Binondo, Manila on Monday night.

Chief Inspector Leandro Gutierrez, chief of MPD Station 11, said the suspects were identified only through their aliases Cyril, Dodong and Ega.

Gutierrez said Cyril, the alleged leader of the group, was the main target of the buy-bust operation.

“During the buy-bust, Cyril—their leader, after he received money—found out they were policemen, so he told the other suspects to shoot our police,” Gutierrez said.

Cyril’s group sold drugs in Delpan, Sta. Cruz, Parola and Escolta areas in Manila, the station chief said., adding that the suspects were also on the Manila police’s drugs watchlist.

Seized during the operation were at least P4,000 worth of shabu, a .22 revolver and two .38 revolvers.
