Voters’ ID now being released

The Commission on Elections on Friday ordered its Field Offices nationwide to hasten the distribution of 4.5 million unclaimed voters Identification cards.

James Arthur Jimenez, Comelec spokesman, said starting this month, Election Officers will post the list of claimants outside local Comelec offices, Barangay Halls and among other designated places.

“The Voter ID is a valid ID recognized by all government offices and banks in all legal transactions. Thus, the Comelec deems the issuance and distribution of voter ID cards as a vital service to the public,” said Jimenez.

The Education and Information Department launched “VoterIDKo” after  the commission en banc  issued Resolution 9837 dated December 19, 2013 to speed up distribution.

Jimenez said voters may call the Comelec hotline (02) 525-9294, tweet @COMELEC using hashtag #VoterIDKo or email <[email protected]> for immediate assistance.
