Villar Cup cuefest today
THE annual Villar Cup Media 9-ball billiards team competition kicks off today at the Star Mall at the corner of EDSA and Shaw Boulevard in Mandaluyong City.
Organized by the Billiards Media Association Philippines, the tourney aims to bring together 60 to 100 billiards players from various radio, television and newspaper outfits who will vie for hefty prizes and trophies.
Sponsored by Star Mall, the two-day event aims to foster camaraderie among media practitioners and promote the sports of billiards among professionals.
Acting BMAP president Orlan Mauricio of Manila Standard Today, together with Louie Tabing, acting BMAP chairman, said they expect at least 12 to 15 teams to vie for the top prize of P50,000 (champion), P30,000 (second prize) and P10,000 (third prize).
