SM City Cauayan to launch sensory-friendly movie showing for PWDs

CAUAYAN CITY -- In its effort to ensure the inclusion of differently abled persons in every facet of mall experience, SM City Cauayan will conduct its first-ever sensory-friendly movie showing in Region 2 on October 29, 2014 at the mall's Cinema 1 here.

SM CITY CAUAYAN
The special screening will offer children with special needs a chance to experience the movie entitled “Life of Pi” on the big screen. It will feature an audio-description and sub-title to benefit its viewers with visual and hearing impairments. Appropriate ambiance for the viewers will also be ensured to stimulate more potential sensory.

This is a great opportunity for the mall employees to know and understand kids with visual and hearing impairment. Organizing this first sensory-friendly movie showing in SM City Cauayan aims to give the best movie viewing experience to our differently abled friends. It is a celebration of their abilities rather than disabilities.

With this event, SM Cares aspires to let our friends with special needs experience every facility and everything that the mall can offer. More so, it’s a way to create a barrier-free environment for them because SM stands to become a Mall for All.

Continues enhancements were also made in the mall’s toilet facilities, parking areas, elevators and corridors for full accessibility and convenience of PWDs. Manpower of the mall were likewise trained to accommodate everyone from all walks of life.

This event is part of the corporate social responsibility of SM, spearheaded by SM Cares, a division of SM Foundation.
