Trillanes belittles Duterte’s order for AMLC to check his bank record

Senator Antonio Trillanes claims President Rodrigo Duterte’s order to the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) to reveal his true wealth has no bearing.

The lawmaker says, the President knows that the council has no authority to release bank documents, unless these records will be used in an impeachment proceeding or other legal purposes or if the Ombudsman is the one making the request.

Trillanes is reacting to Duterte’s order for AMLC to make a public disclosure of his true wealth.

Duterte earlier said, “I have ordered the AMLC and everybody to give information on what’s my worth in terms of pesos in this planet, so hindi ko kayo hiyain (so I won’t embarrass you).”

The President made this statement when he had dinner with members of Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class 1967 at Baguio Country Club in Baguio City on Friday night.

Trillanes previously alleged that Duterte has an ill-gotten wealth amounting to P 2 billion.
