The Commission on Appointments (CA) has deferred the confirmation of Vitaliano Aguirre as Secretary of Justice.
Aguirre faced the panel’s hearing on Wednesday morning.
The CA decided to consider the opposition to Aguirre’s nomination filed on January 14 by Senator Antonio Trillanes.
In his opposition, Trillanes criticized Aguirre for the cabinet member’s behavior and vicious language.
The senator recalled that Aguirre had called him names, including “gagong senador” and “son of a bitch.”

Aguirre admitted to having cursed Trillanes.
He said he lost his cool because the senator was attacking his reputation.
Lawmakers in the commission advised Aguirre to focus on his job and not waste his energy on fights with his critics.
