Mexican president condemns Trump's wall plan

Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto on Wednesday condemned US President Donald Trump's decision to order construction of a border wall, and directed consulates to protect migrants' rights in the United States.

While opposition leaders called on Pena Nieto to cancel a planned meeting with Trump in Washington next week, the Mexican leader did not indicate whether he would cancel or maintain the trip.

"I regret and condemn the decision of the United States to continue construction of a wall that, for years, has divided us instead of uniting us," Pena Nieto said in a brief televised message.
